One of the best ways to make someone happy is to tell them how much you appreciate them, but so often it is only thought and never told. Thanksgiving is all about gratitude and being thankful! You don't need to give someone a big gift (or a small one for that matter) or a special experience to make them be happy. A simple "I appreciate you" can go a long way. Like I said before it's so often overlooked and forgotten about. It's assumed that someone knows that you appreciate them. For me, I definitely don't say it to my mom or grandma enough. The things they do for me should constantly be appreciated but instead I just assume. This Thanksgiving I am going to do my best to not assume. Everyone I appreciate, which is a lot so I probably won't get everyone or not even close to everyone, but everyone I appreciate should know! All the little things and the big things, even just the smile in the hallway at high school is something I appreciate, but I'm sure they don't actually know how I feel. My friends change my life in ways because of what I have appreciated of them. If I didn't appreciate them or what they did, I would still be the same person I was before I met them. They don't know I appreciated it, even though I do. I need to tell them and remind them how happy they make me.
When Thanksgiving comes, rather than posting something on Facebook that says "I'm grateful for all of you," why not send a text to ten. Spending that same amount of time posting, you can make ten people feel special and feel happy, rather than creating another post on Facebook that will take someone's attention away from their family for the day. Most people won't even read your post fully and if they do there is a large chance it won't make them smile like a text from you personally. With the holidays coming you could even text one person every day until Christmas and just tell them why you appreciate them (but there isn't a need to do that on social media either... that's how you make others sad while making others happy). Instead just make that person happy, no one else needs to know! Send an email or a text or even give them a phone call! Appreciation can go a long way all you have to do is say it! I'd like to give a challenge to everyone who reads this! CHALLENGE: Text, email, or call 12 people today and let them know how much you appreciate them. 12 because that's only half the amount of hours that are in the day which means it is more than possible! Let me know if you successfully complete the challenge and tell me how it went. I would love to hear! (and I might even blog about the different experiences if I get enough!) I guarantee it will even bring a smile to your face as you think about the amazing things people have done for you in your life. I appreciate each and every one of you for reading this blog and I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

It's not possible to interact with every single person and there are some people that you never see... so how do you make them happy? Notes! Little encouraging notes :) They're simple and relaxing to make. They do require some creativity, but that's not too hard. I'm sure there is a piece of creativity in everyone. I hope to stick these notes wherever I go to make people smile and remind them that they're amazing and so special. Maybe we can get the notes to travel far too! This is a short blog to let you know what they are :) If you would like a note to stick somewhere or want to make your own let me know with the email or hashtag (#piecesofhappiness247) Let's spread some pieces of happiness!!
As a freshman in College, I have many goals and plans for my future. One plan being that I want to blog when I retire early (at least that's my plan). I want to make a difference in the world and be able to bring happiness to people who can't seem to find it. People need to know that everyone deserves to be loved. Today I had a conversation with my mentor and she asked me "Why wait?" My immediate response was because I have so much to do, so much to focus on, money to make. But if I want to make people happy, why do I have to wait? It doesn't need to be a huge thing like the plans I have in my mind. They can still happen, but I can start now too. So here I am. I wouldn't consider myself a great writer, but I like to write. So why not give it a try and help people find those pieces of happiness.
I personally will go out of my way to do anything I can for anyone. I have found that when you bring happiness to others, they bring happiness to you. Not only do you get to help someone, but you get to meet them and sometimes learn more about someone new. There are so many things you can do to spread happiness. The list is literally never ending. Before I go full happiness, I want to share a little about me. The first thing is that I love to run! I love to go outside and be in nature. I love the thrill of races and the friendships you can create through it. That leads me to the next thing I love to do, spend time with people. I love people. They make me so happy (most of the time haha) and make me a better person. Whether I am hanging out with one person or twelve I couldn't be happier. The final thing I would like to share about me is my love for my family. Every single thing I put my mind to, they are there to support me and love me and I couldn't be more grateful for that. Oh I also love my cat Grizwald :) So what am I doing? As of now, I'm just writing and sharing happiness. Through this blog, I hope to be able to share my ideas so you can go and spread some happiness too. I also hope to have a place to keep my experiences and excitements as I am able to go into the world and show people a piece of happiness. |
