Today I got to talk with one of my best friends from college! I had so much fun talking with Bree about her love of running and how she finds happiness through running. She shared so many great stories and even some great advice for people who would want to start running. I think I had a smile on my face the entire time talking today. Make sure to check it out and maybe something will inspire you (even if you're not a runner!)

Have you ever wanted to do or be something, but you just didn’t know where to start? I feel like this is me a lot. For example, I wanted to be more of a morning person and had no clue how to do it. I love the idea of how you can get so much done in the morning so you can really enjoy the day – but I struggled with actually waking up in the morning.
So, I read a book. This might not be a shocker to you but usually a “How To” is not too far from our fingertips, so if we want something – why not go for it and learn? I found the perfect book to help me figure out how to be more of a morning person. While I’m still getting in the groove, I woke up at 8:30 today without an alarm and I am pretty happy with that. Even with that progress, you can still guarantee that I will hit the snooze button every day at 7am if my phone is next to my bed. So for the past two months it’s been across the room to make me literally get up to turn it off. It works like a charm :) After that, the first thing I do is get some lemon water (I actually crave it now if I don’t have it.) I slowly wake up on the couch with the cup of water rather than hitting snooze for a whole hour. Then I even have time to spend some time in my Bible, which I’ve been working through reading the whole way. My days are usually a bit happier too, although I still do have to get to bed early. Around 9 I start to get ready for bed and do some yoga to calm down. I have the best roommate too who does it all with me! She just wakes up a half hour later. So why do I tell you all of this? Well honestly it’s because I wanted to give you some of these super cool tips the book gave me, but it’s also because I wanted to share with you that if you want to do something – why not read a book about it and make that change. The book I read was “Good Mornings” by Linnea Dunne. This book helped me beyond my morning ritual – it helped me find my daily ritual and gave examples of how I can truly live in the moment and be happy. Linnea shared a lot of good advice so of course I suggest reading it if you want to be a morning person or even if you just want to have a good healthy daily ritual. Here’s a couple of my favorite points:
Even if you’re not a morning person or don’t want to be, I hope these stand out to you as much as they did for me. I feel truly happier and thankful to have done these exercises and put these into my life from the book. If you have a self-care ritual or one you want to start – comment below! It’s Valentine’s day (also known as love day!) A perfect opportunity to spread some love if you ask me :) With the pandemic, it is much harder to do little acts of kindness and make other’s days, but the other week my friend sent me a link that gave me the perfect idea. It took me less than 5 minutes to complete and I was able to make someone’s day. After that I decided to do some research on other ways I could do this same thing and found a few links that let you send a virtual card for free! Check out the links below and choose one or all of them and send a quick card! Plus you might even get a thank you email too!
If it requires a patient name - write "A Special Patient" so it can get delivered to someone special :) Share in the comments which one you did! It only takes 5 minutes and it gives you the opportunity to smile too! |
