So much has happened since we got the news that you can’t go to school, you have to wear a mask, social distancing is required and oh we’re in a global pandemic. I remember being in school last March the week after spring break and thinking about how other schools were closing. When was my school going to do the same? It was the afternoon when we got the email and immediately classes were going to be switched to online. I decided to stay the max amount of days we could (4 more days) and pack up my entire room and take it all home that weekend, even though they said we’d be back in 2 weeks. I had a feeling that wouldn’t be the case.
Before I knew it, I was home taking classes on a foldable table in my room and my new classmate was my cat. Soon enough we got the email that classes were going to be online for the rest of the semester. I hoped that I could make the best of this situation and use this time where I’m forced to stay home to finally relax. (Because really when was the last time I had no plans). I continued to look at this time with a positive light, still having some hard days and not always being able to focus completely on classes. When I got the big news that I was not going to run across the country that’s when it really hit. I was trying so hard to stay positive for that and had the highest hopes, but I understood why we needed to cancel it. I ended up deciding just because its quarantine doesn’t mean we can’t still raise money so I raised above and beyond my goal for the foundation. I applied for internships so I wouldn’t be bored and ended up having two throughout the summer with some other small programs. I appreciated having something to do and still had time to relax. Looking back now I can’t remember April or May or honestly really even June and July. I just remember being home, running, working, and having many snuggles with my cat. I do want to point out something very important. It is okay to not be positive and happy all the time. Especially in a time like this. Mentally we are going through a hard time and there might be days where you aren’t happy. I want to point out though that even though this blog is all about happiness, it is okay. Sometimes its good to even acknowledge the things that aren’t positive to stay mentally strong. I hope pieces of happiness can be used as a guide to find happiness in days where you need it. Also, remember if you’re not positive sometimes it is totally okay and probably important every once in a while. If you continue to feel sad, please reach out to someone close to you. I'm sure they would love to talk. Even with all of this crazy stuff, I did find some positive things! (Note: I wasn’t always thinking positive, some days it was hard to get through, but this is my reflection, looking back)
We’re not done yet with this pandemic, but if we stay distanced, wear masks and do the best we can it will be over eventually. After being able to spend time for myself I learned the basics that I forgot about when life is busy. Of course, I know not everyone had this same experience and some went to work every day and for those people I am so so thankful for. But for those of you who did have the privilege to stay home and work from home, I encourage you to look back and think about what you learned and how you can apply that to your future and your happiness. Feel free to share in the comments below!

I am so so excited to officially relaunch Pieces of Happiness! I have been waiting for the perfect time to get back to weekly posts and now some added bonuses! Pieces of Happiness is back and hopefully even better :) I have some exciting plans and ideas for the future but for now little steps are going a long way!
First, check out my domain!! It is officially piecesofhappiness.org! That means you don’t need to type in .weebly.com anymore because I own the domain! I am so excited about this and I am hoping it can turn into great things in the future. I have always had ideas but I’m hoping to turn some of them into a reality this year dedicating more time now that I finally feel a little caught up with life. I have a huge future planned for this blog and hope it can turn into something bigger someday. I want to dedicate my life to sharing about happiness and I really hope this is just the start. So, thanks for being at the beginning and I hope you’ll continue to support me as I go through life! Soo what does that mean for right now? Well I’m still in school so I can’t give it that much time, but I do have some ideas and one is hoping to attempt to start a podcast and talk to others about happiness! (More details will come with this soon!) I also hope to share some service ideas you can do during this crazy time, some books you can read to learn more about happiness and just some other good things to help us remember the good and happiness in the world. So what am I up to? This year I am a junior in college! (That is so crazy to think about). I am taking my classes virtually this semester with the crazy pandemic, but am still keeping busy! I have an internship with my five classes and teach four fitness classes every week! The fitness classes are definitely my favorite part of the day! I am feeling happy to finally be back on track (as best as you can in a pandemic) with life and SO excited to start working on Pieces of Happiness again. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions you have!! Next week is going to be the first official relaunch blog! Welcome to relaunch week 😊 This week I’ll post some updates and other things that you might not have known about on social media (so make sure you’re following)! Also, make sure to sign up for email updates too with the form on my homepage! Thanks everyone for sticking with me this far! Share with your friends too so they can join in on the happiness and fun :) |
